Overview:

This lab is used for power engineering senior projects and Master's Thesis projects. The lab is also used for other research projects. All the instruments and computers in this lab were purchased from funded research grants or were donated by industry.

Current Problems with the Laboratory:

  • Equipment and computers need to be upgraded. The upgraded computers are needed to allow simulation studies in power systems.

Equipment Needs:

The equipment needed for room 102 can be divided into two categories:

    Short term needs:
  • Twenty-four digital multimeters at least 10 A.
  • Eight three-phase wattmeters.
  • Six automatic DC starters.
  • Eight clamp-on ammeters.
  • Four three-phase RLC loads.
  • Long Connection Leads.
    Long term needs:
  • Eight Pentium Class Computer systems.
  • Eight digital scopes.
  • Four solid-state over-current relays.
  • Four electromechanical over-current relays.
  • Four solid-state over- and under-voltage relays.
  • Four electromechanical over- and under-voltage relays.
