Overview:

This is our fundamental laboratory in microprocessors, microcontrollers and embedded systems.

Current Problems with the Laboratory:

This laboratory was far ahead of its class 10 years ago; it now needs to be upgraded. It is based upon the Intel family of microprocessors, and has eight workstations. To support CPE 316, the HP 64000 systems are used; the Motorola family of 68000 microprocessors is studied.

Current equipment includes eight workstations consisting of:

  • Eight NT PCs.
  • Function generators, counters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes.
  • Three logic analyzers: 2 HP 1630A, 1 HP 615A.
  • Four Intel 8051 development systems.
  • Three HP64000 (old) with interfaces to Motorola 68000 family.
  • Two HP64000 (newer) with developed, but not functional, interfaces to Motorola 68000 family.
  • Network to HP Unix computer workstations.

Equipment Needs:

Please see the separate laboratory development plan for Computer Engineering.
